With the 14th annual Planet Ark National Recycling Week kicking off next week Peet is encouraging residents at all its estates to get involved!

The Planet Ark event, which runs from Monday 9 November to Sunday 15 November, brings a national focus to recycling and waste management.  So take up the challenge, look at your daily habits and make the changes to reduce, reuse and recycle at home, at work and in the community.

Buyers take advantage of home affordability high

Homebuyers at Peet estates around Western Australia are enjoying a choice of quality homesites and competitive prices, plus the most affordable housing since 2003.

Latest Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) statistics show Australia has the highest level of housing affordability in close to six years, with the proportion of family income required to meet loan repayments dropping to 28.6%.

Peet Limited Managing Director and CEO Brendan Gore said the news was reflected in strong interest from buyers at Peet estates since the start of the year, especially first homebuyers benefiting from generous government grants.

“Peet has a range of affordable, quality homesites available at nine estates in popular areas throughout Perth and in Australind and Albany,” Mr Gore said

“Since the start of the year, we have seen increasing numbers of buyers taking advantage of the broad choice of homesites, low interest rates and buyer incentives on offer, to secure a new home.

“First homebuyers have been particularly active, with young investors using the grants to purchase their first homes while unprecedented incentives are available.”

First homebuyers in Western Australia currently enjoy a huge $21,000 in grants, stamp duty exemptions for homes valued at under $500,000 and reduced duty for homes under $600,000.

Second Chance at Grants of $21,000 for WA's First Homebuyers

First homebuyers have a second chance to build a new home at a Peet Limited estate with the help of a total of $21,000 in grants – thanks to the extension of the First Home Owners Boost (FHOB).

The Federal Government announced yesterday that first homebuyers would have another six months to access the grant - but the amount available will be cut by half from 1 October 2009.

Homebuyers who sign a contract to build a new home on or before 30 September could be eligible for a FHOB of $14,000 and another $7,000 First Home Owners Grant. 

Between 1 October 2009 and 31 December 2009, the FHOB is cut by half but first homebuyers could still be eligible for $14,000 toward their new homes.

Peet Limited Managing Director and CEO Brendan Gore welcomed the extension of the FHOB.

He said the steps involved in selecting a homesite and home design before signing a building contract meant time had been quickly running out for many eligible buyers before the extension was announced.

“Peet is pleased to be offering a range of quality, affordable homesites at estates in both northern and southern suburbs to meet the needs of first homebuyers,” he said,

Before making a grant application, first homebuyers will need to:
• find a homesite
• choose their preferred builder
• select a home design
• sign the building contract

First homebuyers are encouraged to secure their preferred address at a Peet estate today before time runs out to gain the Federal Governments' generous first homeowners grant.

To be eligible for the $21,000 cash bonus, first homebuyers need to purchase land and sign a building contract before 30 June 2009 and ensure their home will start construction by mid-December 2009*.

Eager homebuyers have camped out overnight to secure their dream block in the latest release at Ashton Heights Private Estate.

Interest was particularly strong in Release 25 at the Peet Limited estate which included 10 traditional lots and one cottage homesite released on Saturday 24 January.

It marked the final release of land at the estate before the Federal Government's $21,000 Home Owners boost expires on 30 June this year.

Seven of the 11 available lots were quickly snapped up on Saturday leaving just four homesites remaining.

First homebuyers Les and Catherine Ritchin of Banksia Grove were first in line having arrived at the Ashton Heights Sales Office at 7.30 Friday morning.

Mr Ritchin said the couple was very keen to secure a homesite at Ashton Heights before the First Home Owners Boost expires.

"We knew this was one of the last releases at the estate and we had already picked out the lot we were after," Mr Ritchin said.

"We were attracted to the size of the block and also the fact that we will be building in an established area. It's very important for us that public transport is close by with shops and schooling as well."

Peet Limited Managing Director and CEO Brendan Gore congratulated the Ritchins on their purchase and other purchasers soon to join the Ashton Heights community.

Final Release at Ashton Heights before First Home Owners boost expires

First homebuyers looking to take advantage of the Federal Government's $21,000 boost have one final opportunity to secure a homesite at Peet Limited's Ashton Heights before the incentive runs out on 30 June this year.

Ten traditional lots and one cottage homesite will be released next Saturday 24 January, as part of the estate's last scheduled release before the First Home Owners Boost expires.
